This weaving pattern is a masterclass in letting hand-painted yarn do the talking. Designed by Mary Ballard of Goldfinch Woven, the technique uses a specific warping method to preserve the natural color pools of lace weight Cabito wool yarn, while a pointed twill weave structure plays beautifully against those vivid color shifts. The result is a softly draping scarf with stunning visual movement and incredible character.
- Craft: Weaving
- Suggested yarn: 1 skein lace weight Cabito wool (100g / 655 yards) + 2 skeins lace weight silk yarn (300 yards each) in black
- Loom: 4-shaft, 4-treadle loom with 12 DPI heddle
- Finished length: 85" plus fringe
- Materials needed: Warping board, stick or boat shuttle (not included)
